Owens Art Gallery announces new Intern for 2006-7

SACKVILLE, NB — The Owens Art Gallery is pleased to announce that Kate Brayley has been awarded the internship position for 2006-2007. Each year a Mount Allison University graduate is given the unique opportunity of working closely, over a period of ten months, with the staff at the Owens Art Gallery. This internship program, currently the only one of its kind in the Maritimes is now in its 11th year. Over the coming year Brayley, originally from Waverley, Nova Scotia, will be exposed to the inner workings of the gallery, from the installation and dismantling of shows, art conservation, working closely with artists and students, as well as organizing events.

Brayley, who recently graduated from Mount Allison University with a major in Art History and a minor in Classics, will also be given the opportunity to curate a show which will be open to the public in mid-March. Brayley believes this position, as gallery intern, will be an invaluable experience as she plans on pursuing further education and a career in the arts. She is excited about spending another year in Sackville, working with the staff at the Owens, and continuing to work on her photography.
