September 1, 2006 Source: : http://communications.uwo.ca/media_newsroom/story.html?listing_id=21785 WESTERN'S NEWEST STUDENT RESIDENCE SET TO OFFICIALLY OPEN WESTERN'S NEWEST STUDENT RESIDENCE SET TO OFFICIALLY OPEN London Hall celebrates relationship between the University and the City London, ON. - Named in honour of the City of London, Western's newest student residence will be officially opened on Wednesday, September 6 at 10 a.m. by London Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best and Western President Paul Davenport. Students from as far away as Japan, Australia, Spain and Denmark will be calling it home for the 2006-07 academic year. The $31-million residence will accommodate 417 upper-year students. The suite-style units come completely furnished, including fridges and stoves. In the spirit of connecting the University to the broader community, London Hall is also a conference centre, with a large meeting room on the main floor, and three break-out rooms that can be rented by on- and off-campus groups. There are currently nine student residences and five other buildings leased as apartments year round on campus.
