Spectacular Program for the 2005 Sackville Fall Fair, Sept. 23 - 25

SACKVILLE, NB — The annual Sackville Fall Fair will take place this year from September 23 through 25. “Super” and “packed solid” are the best words to describe the three-day program, now in its fifth year.

There are several new events added to the line up this year. On Friday, Sept. 23 there will be a Downtown Street Party on Bridge Street. Bridge Street, from Main Street to Lorne Street, will be closed to traffic from 4 p.m. to midnight. Stores will be open late, with sidewalk activity. A stage will be set up with a free program that is sure to keep all ages well entertained for the evening. The Donna and Andy Show — ECMA winning children’s entertainers will perform at 6 p.m. The Fall Fair Official Opening will be at 7 p.m. A Haunted Hike is also on the evening program. To top off the night, from 9 - 11 p.m., a free outdoor concert featuring Ray Legere will be held downtown.

On Saturday, Sept. 24 a “Past and Present” Agricultural Field Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Doncaster Farm. The Skate-to-Snow Team skateboard demonstrations will be at 10 a.m. at the Skateboard Park. A Poker Tournament unfolds at Mount Allison’s Helser Hall from noon to 5 p.m. The Fall Fair Parade which begins at 1 p.m., will feature new floats and bands. Lots of great entertainment starts at 2 p.m. and runs throughout the afternoon at the Bandstand. Then take your choice of four concerts and dances: the Pic n’ Grin Concert at 7 p.m., The Arrogant Worms Concert at 8 p.m. (part of the Mount Allison Performing Arts Series), The Tantramar Twirlers Square Dance and the Salt Water Roses Concert/Dance at Live Bait Theatre from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Sunday, Sept. 25 sees a new edition of the Happy Harry’s Street Cart Derby at Salem St. hill from 11 a.m.to 3 p.m. The street will be closed at that time. A Community Market at the Civic Centre operates from noon until 3 p.m. Other afternoon activities include: A Tribute to Sir Charles GD Roberts beginning at 2 p.m. at St. Ann’s Church in Westcock. A national monument and historic plaque will be placed and unveiled then by Parks Canada. Sackville’s own Poet Laureate, Douglas Lochhead, will read a poetic tribute. At 3 p.m. at Brunton Auditorium, Mount Allison University campus, three special presentations will illustrate more of Roberts’s relationship with the Tantramar Landscape. The official closing of the Fall Fair takes place with a free community skate at the Civic Centre at 6 p.m.
