September 27, 2006 Source: : http://www.acadiau.ca/whatsnew/newsrelease/2006/ma_rsc_27sep.html Acadia University to host RSC: The Academies Governor General's Lecture Series (Wolfville, NS) - RSC: The Academies and Acadia University will host one of Canada's foremost ecological entomologists and internationally renowned behavioural and chemical ecologist Dr. Jeremy Nicol NcNeil for the Governor General's Lecture Series on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 7 p.m., Festival Theatre, 504 Main Street, Wolfville. Dr. McNeil’s presentation entitled "Eavesdropping on Mother Nature: In Search of Alternatives to Synthetic Pesticides," will provide insight to alternate management strategies for the control of insect pests that are ecologically more acceptable than synthetic insecticides. Dr. McNeil is the Helen Battle Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Western Ontario. His research has contributed significantly to the fundamental understanding of insect migration in response to habitat change, and plant-herbivore-natural enemy interactions.
