Live Bait Theatre and the Windsor Theatre present Life After Hockey, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1

SACKVILLE, NB — Live Bait Theatre and the Windsor Theatre will present Life After Hockey, by Kenneth Brown, at Mount Allison University's Windsor Theatre, Friday, September 30 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 1 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Ticket prices are $15 or $8 for students. Reservations can be made by calling Windsor Theatre at 364-2234, or Live Bait at 536-2248 (toll-free 1-888-655-2248). Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Live Bait and Tintamarre.

Produced by Saskatoon's Antic Quill Theatre, this highly entertaining one-man play stars Sackville native and Mount Allison alumnus Bruce McKay as Rink Rat Brown, a husband and father who likes to escape to the world of the outdoor rink and his hockey fantasies. First produced for the Edmonton Fringe Festival in the mid 1980s at the height of "Oilermania," this enduring Canadian classic has been produced all over the country and in translation abroad. A genuine homage to the game we love, the play even features the voice of Wayne Gretzky, who did the recording after seeing the show himself.

Bruce McKay grew up in Sackville, and enjoyed playing hockey both at the old Allison Gardens and outdoors on the swan pond. After graduating from Tantramar and Mount Allison, he completed the acting program at the National Theatre School of Canada in Montreal, where he had the opportunity to watch his beloved Habs play at the old Forum. Bruce has been working in professional theatre for the last 15 years, performing in English and French for theatre companies across Canada. He is currently the Crake Drama Graduate in Residence at Mount Allison University.
