ATLIS to host third undergraduate conference in Nov. — early registration deadline is Oct. 3

SACKVILLE, NB — Between Friday, November 18 and Sunday, November 20, Mount Allison University will be hosting the third annual Atlantic International Studies (ATLIS) Conference entitled "Why We Fight: War, Peace, and Resolution." The conference is open to all undergraduate students in the Atlantic region and ATLIS is currently accepting registration and papers from students who have an interest in international relations.

The 2005 ATLIS Conference will give students the opportunity to present their research in an academic forum, through paper presentations, workshops, and a round table discussion with professionals in the field of international relations. All papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication in the ATLIS journal this spring.

The conference highlights include: student paper presentations, a workshop on conflict resolution with David Eaves, a public round table, a keynote address and luncheon, and an opportunity for students to present posters or multimedia presentations related to international affairs. The public round table will give students exposure to academic discourse on their research interests. The presentations will allow students at various Atlantic universities to share their academic interests with other students and gives students the chance to come together and develop new and more innovative ways to be active global citizens. ATLIS will also be co-hosting a benefit concert with Rights and Democracy on Saturday, November 19.

The cost to register for the conference is $20, before October 3, and $30 thereafter. To register for the conference contact conference@atlis.ca or if you are interested in submitting a paper to the conference contact president@atlis.ca.

ATLIS is a student-run organization based out of Mount Allison University. In just two years it has successfully hosted two conferences and published two peer-reviewed undergraduate journals. Its first online journal was launched in the spring of 2004 and the second annual edition was published in spring 2005. Both editions of the journal can be viewed online at www.atlis.ca/journal.html.
