Below are a few highlights of the fall term and specific information will follow in the coming weeks. Also, information will be updated on a regular basis at: http://publicaffairs.concordia.ca and http://news.concordia.ca/ The University is gearing up for the installation of our new President, Claude Lajeunesse, who has been given a 5-year mandate by Concordia's Board of Governors. One of the installation events will be an academic conference focusing on the internationalization of education and will bring together experts in this field. Concordia's Solar Decathlon team, made up of engineering and communications students will unveil their solar house, the Northern Light, on September 16 on the Loyola Campus. Then the team will pack up the house and head to Washington DC - the only Canadian team to participate in the Solar Decathlon competition, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.An annual tradition takes place on September 30 - the 16th annual Concordia Shuffle. The Shuffle is a 6.5 km walk-a-thon in which participants walk from our downtown campus to the Loyola Campus. All funds raised go towards scholarships and bursaries for Concordia students. Organized by the Office of University Advancement and Alumni Relations, Homecoming offers a variety of activities. For more information: http://homecoming.concordia.caIn its continuing commitment to promoting public art, the University will unveil at least three new artworks this fall which will be integrated into the Quartier Concordia.On October 14 and 15, the Faculty of Fine Arts will host a conference titled Creating Space for Art, which will bring together individuals working in the areas of arts and architecture.The University also has a commitment to protect Montreal's heritage. Therefore, from October 19 to 22, Concordia will be a partner in the conference "Quel avenir pour quelles église?", along with Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), la Chaire du Canada en patrimoine urbain de l'École des sciences de la gestion (ESG) à l'UQAM, le Conseil du patrimoine de Montréal and la Fondation du patrimoine religieux du QuébecThe Peace and Conflict Resolution academic lecture series, which was launched in fall 2003, returns for another year.
