What is Biostatistics?
Biostatistics is the application of statistics to a variety of biological fields, especially medicine and agriculture. It encompasses the design of experiments, the collection and summarization of data, and the interpretation of that data. Medically, biostatistics is usually combined with the departments of epidemiology or public health.
Biostatistics is a subfield of statistics, and is related to bioinformatics. Biostatistics is applied to every medical discipline, but is most closely related to epidemiology and public (community) health.
