Employment Resources and Professions Available to Distributed Computing Graduates

Most people with a degree in distributed computing end up working in the private sector for various software companies, ranging from giants such as Microsoft, to relatively unknown start-ups hoping to break into a niche market. They can work as analysts, computer programmers, and in software development. Other times they can work to design a specific company's internal network, or work to link specific multiple Intranets to the Internet.

Graduates can also work for government, writing computer programs for a variety of purposes such as defense or weather forecasting. They can also work in computer security to keep sensitive information secure from the outside world.

Other avenues of employment include academia and pure research, where graduates can teach computer science and software programming at the university or college level. As well, with an additional education degree, such people can also work to teach computer science at the high school level.

A degree in distributed computing, combined with a degree in business, law, engineering, or medicine, will make those people more employable due to having a wider set of computer skills. This includes fields such as management, computer privacy, aeronautical engineering, and bioinformatics.
