Depending on a student’s specialization, earth science graduates may pursue careers in a wide range of fields, including the growing fields of environmental and engineering geology, petroleum and mineral exploration and production, hazardous waste management, teaching or government work, or an eventual career in environmental law. Most of these choices require postgraduate study, but an undergraduate degree could still lead to a career in environmental advocacy, soil and water conservation, investment banking, or science journalism. It is possible to become certified as a geoscientist; check with the professional geoscience association in your province for requirements by starting at this national site: http://www.ccpg.ca/ UBC has a good careers page for earth scientists: https://www.careersonline.ubc.ca/student/major.cfm?go=view&major=47 Western offers career information for both undergrads and graduate degree holders: http://www.uwo.ca/earth/news/jobtips.htm
