Global and Globalization Studies Topics and Concepts in Canadian Universities

What do Global and Globalization Studies Students Learn?

Depending on the institution, global studies programs may focus more on a particular discipline, but their core disciplines are political science, sociology, economics, and anthropology. Gender studies, history, geography, labour studies and languages may also be brought into the mix, and at least one university offers a B.Sc. (Agriculture) focusing on global resource studies. Students often work or volunteer abroad in developing countries to gain a better understanding of their chosen field of study, and may choose to focus on a particular part of the world (e.g. Latin America) or a particular aspect of development (e.g. gender and development). Furthermore, students learn valuable critical thinking skills and become informed citizens in matters of global and local development.
