A program in IT provides the students with the necessary skills to study, design, develop, implement, and manage computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware. Students learn a broad range of technologies including web, database, and networking technologies; they also learn innovative and creative infrastructure integration techniques. This includes integrating the different technologies for interoperability, Writing database queries and applications using SQL and stored procedures, configuring and administering a secure networked environment, and setting up web server environments for installing applications requiring a web interface.
Students learn the conceptual and functional design and development of computer-based systems for information support. Topics include architectural evaluation (what systems work well for specific issues), as well as the integration of new systems into existing systems (upgrading) and the maintenance of the results as user needs change over time.
