Landscape Architecture Topics and Concepts in Canadian Universities
What do Landscape Architecture Students Learn? Students of landscape architecture learn to analyze, plan, design and manage the land at every scale, from individual lots to regional spaces. They use their creativity together with their acquired knowledge of sociology, economics, sustainable development and ecology to create functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces in both rural and urban contexts. Students use traditional design methods and media as well as computer graphics design and GIS programs in their studies. Practical studio work is a large component of the program, and students develop a portfolio of work as they progress. Study abroad, community outreach and internship at an architectural firm are usually options.
