Prerequisites for Graduate Studies in Linguistic Anthropology
To be admitted to a Master's-level program in linguistic anthropology, students must have completed an undergraduate degree in anthropology or related discipline (such as linguistics or sociology) with at least a B+ average. Previous work experience in a linguistic anthropology environment is considered an asset.
To be admitted to a PhD program, students must have completed a Master's-level degree in linguistic anthropology. Some schools will allow direct transfer from an undergraduate degree to a PhD, provided the student has a sufficiently high average (A-) and an aptitude for research.
For all graduate programs, the student must have a prospective supervisor chosen prior to final admission.
