Big On Beagles

Big On Beagles

Big On Beagles (BOB) Rescue is a small privately run rescue organization for beagles experiencing troubled times. Our primary focus is the rescue of senior beagles, those with chronic health issues, those requiring surgery, and those suffering from emotional trauma. We work with many reputable animal shelters on a regular basis.

Volunteer Information for Big On Beagles

What services does your organization provide?
As mentioned in our description, we're here essentially for the underdog - those dogs that are not readily adopted in shelters due to age, health, and emotional stress. We're contacted by reputable animal shelters regularly when they're unable to adopt a beagle due to one or more of these issues. Of course, these dogs must always be of excellent temperament to be considered. We will then take these dogs into our rescue program by placing them in loving foster homes and providing them with the veterinary care they require.

Do you have any age requirements?
We have many volunteer (BOBateer) opportunities. Minimum age requirement is based on the specific volunteer position. For instance, we occasionally have school children help us by raising funds for their birthday or school project!
Other volunteer work requires you to be at least 21 years old, i.e. BOBateer transporters (you must have a license to drive a beagle in need!), etc. All our BOBateer opportunities are fully described on our web site: http://www.bigonbeagles.ca

The absolute most important volunteer work is fostering a beagle in need. We are always looking for committed, loving foster families so we can help more homeless howlers!

Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
No.

What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
It all depends on the volunteer work.

Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
If you love dogs, that's the most important requirement. Of course, a good sense of humour is also mandatory when it comes to beagles!

Are there any specific skills and experience required?
Again, it all depends on the volunteer work. But we're all for learning as you go and are very involved with our BOBateers every pawstep of the way!

What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
As mentioned, our BOBateer opportunities are listed on our web site. The most important positions are Event Helpers and Foster Parents.

Do you provide training for volunteers?
Definitely! We work very closely with our volunteers to ensure they're happy and our beagles are happy for a positive experience every time.

What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?
Please visit our web site for detailed information

How will a person benefit from volunteering with Big On Beagles?
It's a deeply rewarding experience to help an animal in need. It's all about giving back and seeing the positive affect you can have on a down-on-his-luck beagle!

Do you accept high school students?
Absolutely! It will, of course, depend on whether we have an upcoming event that will fit their requirements.
