Volunteer Information for Canadian Red Cross Renfrew County Branch

What services does your organization provide?
The Renfrew County Branch of the Canadian Red has various programs that do just that.
Disaster Services Program: is a 24/7 service assisting those affected/displaced by disaster with food, clothing and shelter;
First Aid Training;
Health Equipment Loan Program: providing much needed medical equipment to those with sudden injury or illness; Warm Hands Warm Hearts: distribution of knitted mittens to schools and local agencies through out Renfrew County.


Do you have any age requirements?
Minimum age requirement for most programs is 18years.


Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
French


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
Time commitment will vary with different volunteer positions. We do ask for an overall 2 year commitment


Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
Valid drivers licence
Vulnerable sector check will need to be completed
Mandatory training which is provided


What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
We are currently accepting volunteer applications for the following positions.
Front Desk Volunteer - in office assistance
Gaming Representative - Off site at gaming centre
Disaster Management volunteer - various positions

Do you provide training for volunteers?
Training is provided, again will depend on the program. All training is covered by Red Cross


What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?
Front Desk - assisting with all programs, assisting clients coming into the branch or calling in.
Disaster Management - on call and available to assist clients affected by disaster, program support
Gaming Centre - Customer service role.

Is a great opportunity to work with other volunteers, learn new skills and be able to make a contribution to their local community.


Do you accept high school students?
Unfortunately they usually do not meet the age requirement.
