Children's Peace Theatre

Children's Peace Theatre

The Children's Peace Theatre is a not-for-profit, award-winning organization located in the heart of Crescent Town, Toronto. Our mandate is to create a culture of peace by engaging children and youth in the practice of theatre. The Children's Peace Theatre is a professional, theatre based organization which has developed a unique methodology, blending the arts with social activism to empower children and youth to share their stories of conflict and their visions of peace. Through the creation and presentation of issue-based and collaborative theatrical performances, and in-school programs, the Children's Peace Theatre provides participants from diverse communities with the opportunity to address the reality of violence and aggression in our neighbourhood and in our world. Our work is based on the belief that conflict is inevitable, but peace is possible when people face conflict with courage, compassion and creativity.

We run programs year round both in our heritage facility and in schools. We serve over 2,000 children and youth each year, helping them to express themselves through the arts and become leaders in their community. We perform for schools, festivals, and conferences, with a total annual audience of more than 5000.

Children's Peace Theatre has, over the years, relied on volunteers to help with the smooth running of our organization. We hope you will join the team.
