Residential Housing Program
Discovery House has 19 apartments and is the most secure shelter in Alberta. The average stay at Discovery House is approximately six months (but families can reside up to 12 months based on circumstances) and during this time clients are provided with a wide range of programs and services. On average a family resides at Discovery House for six months but can stay for up to one year.
Community Housing Program
The Community Housing program is based on the Housing First model to place families who are dually impacted by homelessness and domestic violence in permanent stable housing first and then provide mental health assessments, financial, emotional and practical supports, case management, home-based counselling, referrals, and support services. Case managers work with families to develop safety plans, connect with longer-term support services, and navigate through complex social services networks.
