What services does your organization provide?
Our Mission Statement:
The mission of the East Parry Sound Literacy Council is to foster the development of literacy, numeracy, problem solving, critical thinking and living skills that are necessary for success in all areas of life. The Council pursues this mission within a broad understanding of human development and life-long learning, and through the integration of services with other organizations with which it shares clients.

19 years of age

What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
A minimum of 2 hours per week on a regular basis.


Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
Please note that we require all volunteers, tutors, staff and board members to fill in an application, and submit a police record check for our files.


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
Our learners require help with everything from basic reading and writing skills to advanced math and science courses.


What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
One on one tutoring with learners.


Do you provide training for volunteers?
Training plans and learner materials are provided for each learner, and the goals and abilities of each learner are discussed and monitored throughout their time with us.


What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?
One on one reading, basic numeracy tutoring, life skills mentoring

We do accept students wishing to fulfill their community service requirements on a case by case basis.
