What services does your organization provide?
We provide a full range of activities for our residents to encourage growth, wellness and happiness. We are dedicated to providing support ranging from intellectual stimulation to parties. We also encourage connections with the community through outings, educational seminars and special events at our facility.

13


Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
Other languages are welcomed but not required


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
Minimum: 3 hours per month


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
Caring, kind, open to trying new things, good listener


What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
Activity Volunteers: Socializing with residents in group or one on one settings. You may choose your own supplies or work with our staff in one of our existing activities like Tea Club, Movies, Knitting Club, Wii games

Clerical Volunteers: Helping to organize activities and supplies behind the scenes. Involves making cards, preparing craft supplies, computer work etc.


Do you provide training for volunteers?
We have one 4 hour orientation that provides training for speaking to seniors, wheel chair etiquette and a small background of anti-oppressive training.


What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?
We have weekly activities like Bingo, Wii games, Trivia, Movie nights, Crosswords, Montessori, Java Music Club etc. that volunteers are welcome to participate in. We also have special events monthly like birthday parties, bazaars, entertainment, cultural days etc. For volunteers who aren't fond of groups we offer one to one visits any time.


How will a person benefit from volunteering with Eatonville Care Centre?
Volunteering at Eatonville not only supports a senior in the community, but provides an opportunity to gain wisdom, learn about yourself and improve social skills. With an aging population, experience in geriatrics is quickly becoming an important skill set.
