What services does your organization provide?

  • Adoption of mostly large and giant breeds of dogs
  • Community Education on the plight of homeless pets
  • Health & Welfare of companion animals


Do you have any age requirements?
18 yrs of age or 16 with parents consent


Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
French would be helpful with our Eastern Ontario group


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
As much as they can contribute whether it be 1 hr/wk or more or even just helping with an event one month


Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
Not really


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
Not really - just have to like dogs :) Also computer skills are also an asset


What type of volunteer positions are typically available?

  • Handling dogs at events
  • Maning a booth at events
  • Making posters
  • Baking dog treats
  • Making other crafty things
  • Taking photos of the dogs we have in care
  • Fostering a dog

Is there any training provided for volunteers?
Training not necessary


What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?

  • Helping at events
  • Computer work i.e. updating volunteer database amongst other things
  • Soliciting donations from local businesses
  • Fostering a dog
  • Photography

How will a person benefit from volunteering with Friendly Giants Dog Rescue?
They will gain a far greater knowledge of the plight of homeless pets, health of companion animals, spay/neutering pets etc.
