Volunteer Information for Friends of the Royal Saskatchewan Museum

What services does your organization provide?
The FRSM supports the work of the Royal Sask. Museum by providing funds for scientific research and programs for youth to benefit the education and culture of Saskatchewan.


Do you have any age requirements?
Two Board Members are required to fill the retiring positions. Ninteen years of age is required


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
The time commitments are for Board meetings 6 times per year plus committee meetings for an average of 4 to 6 hours per month.


Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
Must be a member of FRSM(information on the RSM website)
Two terms of three years each are available.


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
Candidates with an interest in advancement of Natural Sciences and the Cultural community with backgrounds in Media relations, Strategic Planning and Governance are encouraged to apply


What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
Board of directors


Do you provide training for volunteers?
Board orientation is conducted prior to the first meeting.


What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?
Committee members and chairs develope and make recommendations on policies for the Board to function effiently.

The Board members benefit by working with some of the best researchers and curators available in Canada.
