Gananoque and District Humane Society

Gananoque and District Humane Society

Affiliate of Ontario SPCA. Completely volunteer managed and operated. We follow responsible NO KILL principles. Healthy, adoptable animals will not be euthanized just to make space in our Shelter. Suffering animals who are too sick or injured to be helped will be humanely released from their misery. All operating costs are raised by volunteers from donations, adoption fees and fund raising projects. Occasional support grants are received from local Municipalities or other levels of Government.

Every volunteer has the opportunity to choose an area of service that encompasses all the opportunities available in a small business.

Do you accept high school students?
It takes about 40 hours to train a Shelter volunteer fully. High School students who are willing to take on hard work and make a commitment of at least 80 hours will be considered on their merits.
