Le Mois de la Photo a Montreal

Le Mois de la Photo a Montreal

Le Mois de la Photo a Montreal is an international biennale that investigates issues relating to contemporary photography. Bringing together artists, curators, and art experts, the biennale creates a unique and exciting opportunity for studying the ways in which the image is transformed in contemporary culture.

For more than 20 years, Le Mois de la Photo a Montreal has been woven itself into the fabric of our city's vibrant cultural scene. Conceived as a one-time event, the first Mois de la Photo a Montreal was organized and presented by VOX, centre de diffusion de la photographie, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the invention of photography. In 2002, Le Mois de la Photo a Montreal became an independent non-profit organization with its own board of directors. The new organization adopted an innovative artistic approach, in which each presentation and all of its activities are organized around a single theme proposed by a guest curator.

Le Mois de la Photo a Montreal is recognized as a charity organization by Canada Revenue Agency. It is a member of Festivals et Evenements Quebec and of Festival of Light, an international consortium of photography festivals.
