Volunteer Information for Mind Body and Soul Self Help Support Center

What services does your organization provide?
The services that our organization provide are the following; Yoga, Tai Chi, Latin Dance, Guided Meditation, Reflexology but we prefer appointments instead of walk-ins and Friday's Night Social Club for adults with Developmental Disabilities and Handicaps!!! All of our programs are free and we are also opening up our own Charity Thrift Store and that will be officially be open on Monday August 25th 2014 and we will also be opening up our own Caf‚.


Do you have any age requirements?
The minimum age requirements for being a volunteer is 16 years old and up.


Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
No, not at this time


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
The time commitments that we are expecting from a volunteer is that they are always on time and committed to the job on hand as there are many jobs around our place that need assistance. We usually require volunteers both during the day and evening as our programs usually are in the evenings.


Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
No


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
No but any experience working in an office/retail environment would be helpful.


What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
There are many volunteer positions available so depending on the volunteer's experience and also what they are good at we will do our best to place them in a position that they are good at but we can't guaranteed it. Sometimes volunteers will be required to do different tasks that they may not have any experience doing but it is always a learning experience.


Do you provide training for volunteers?
We do provide training for volunteers and we teach them basic training.


What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?
The typical volunteer activities that are occurring at our organization are: Thrift Store Cashiers, Caf‚ volunteers assisting customers with coffee, tea, water, treats etc.


How will a person benefit from volunteering with Mind Body and Soul Self Help Support Center?
A person will benefit from their volunteering experience by getting the opportunity to meet new people, make some new friends, helping out the organization when necessary.


Do you accept high school students?
Yes we do accept high school students looking to complete their 40 hours of Community Service in order for them to fulfill a graduation requirement.
