What services does your organization provide?
Crisis/Intake Support Services, Assertive Community Treatment,Intensive Case Management,Transitional Case Management, Dual Diagnosis Case Management, Adult Protective Service, Partner Assault Response Program, Seniors Mental Health Program, Dual Diagnosis Program for developmentally handicapped adults, Aboriginal Mental Health Program, Court Diversion & Support, Supportive Housing, Counselling Psychotherapy & Education Service, Early Intervention Psychosis Service, Council of Consumer/Survivor and Family Intiatives (Peer driven, peer guided community program)


Do you have any age requirements?
- Reside within the Districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound
- Be over the age of 18


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
Depending on the service stream e.g. transportation could take up to several hours per week whereas administrative support may be on an as needed basis for a couple of hours


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
Transportation: Valid driver's license, safe & reliable vehicle, 3rd party liability of one million dollars


What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
Transportation, Social Support, Recreation, Administrative Support, Board of Directors and/or various committees, Awarness/Educational activities, Drop-ins


Is there any training provided for volunteers?
In-depth orientation for all volunteers. First Aid, Defensive Driving and other training opportunities arise from time to time.


What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?

  • Transportation - driving a consumer to and from appointments within and/or outside the district
  • Social Support - spending time with a consumer doing something he/she is interested in, helping with activities of daily living (e.g. shopping with consumer)
  • Recreation - spending time with a consumer doing recreational activities (e.g. taking consumer skating, walking, doing a yoga class, etc.)
  • Awareness/educatonal activites - helping with presentations, Defeat Depresson Walk
  • COI drop-ins - working with drop-ins e.g. art classes, computer instruction, etc.
  • Administrative support - both clerical and program opportunites
  • Committees - various committes in organization from Board of Directos to programs
