Volunteer Information for Northern Lights Council Scouts Canada

What services does your organization provide?
We offer youth programming for Beavers (5-7 year olds), Cubs (8-10 year olds), Scouts (11-14 year olds), Venturers (14-17 year olds) and Rovers (18-26 year olds).


Do you have any age requirements?
The be a Leader or part of the Committee, generally you need to be at least 18 years old.


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
2-3 hours a week.


Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
We require a screening process that includes a Police Record Check, interview and reference check.


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
No experience required.


What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
We are looking for Leaders to run our programs for the various age groups as well as Committee members to look after the administrative part of the program. Committee positions such as Registrar, Treasurer, Secretary, Group Administrator and Group Commissioner are available.

By becoming a Leader or Committee member you make it possible for more youth to experience all that the Scout program has to offer and you make a very real difference in the lives of youth.

Whether you have a little time, or more time, you can contribute to the youth in your community by becoming a part of Scouts Canada.


Do you provide training for volunteers?
We provide free mandatory training and have a support network of experienced Scouters to help you.


What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?
For Leaders: planning and running weekly meetings and occasional camps.

For Committee members: Depends on the position, but generally a monthly meeting and then time spent completing duties.
