This picturesque property was bequeathed to the City of Brantford by Mr. Edmund Cockshutt in 1957, with his wishes that it be a place for artistic and cultural pursuits. In 1986, the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant was established as a public, nonprofit art gallery.
