OPERATION KICKSTART, has serviced hundereds of job seekers through education and providing access to electronic devices in order that the internet may be searched for jobs. Our office eqt. due to the demand needs upgrading. We are a registered Alberta society, providing services to job seekers without digital skills or access to computers. We do not provide jobs-we provide each client with tools, so they can get in the game, and win.

Volunteer Information for Operation Kickstart

What services does your organization provide?
Registered as a non profit society in 1996 in alberta.
A passion to help Calgarians find jobs through education. We teach basic elementary digital skills, how to-turn a computer on-do a search-save information-set up files-respond to sites-use emails-the very basic so many of us take for granted. Many volunteers needed for 3-4 hour shifts, to open and close offices-accept applications for clients, set up appointments to use computers.

Adults


Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
No


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
Some volunteers with teaching skills are needed, however a passion for helping the needy is the key.


What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
Receptionist, Mentor, Teacher


Do you provide training for volunteers?
Yes there is a manual/handbook as well as ongoing training respecting the needs of employers


What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?
Teaching digital basic skills and mentoring and inspiring those who have never been in the job market as well as the ederly with tools to find and keep jobs


How will a person benefit from volunteering with Operation Kickstart?
Assisting others in need, and changing their lives is the greatest reward
