Founded in 1993 by Richard Hayman, The Art School of Peterborough provides excellent art instruction to the people of Peterborough and the surrounding communities. The Art School of Peterborough is dedicated to providing a professional level of instruction in a wide variety of studio media to both adults and children. No prior art training is necessary and there are no entrance requirements or examinations.

Volunteer Information for The Art School of Peterborough

What services does your organization provide?
Art classes and workshops in drawing, painting, pottery and jewellery for all ages. We also provide Kids Art Camps through out the summer, March Break and PA days for children aged 6 to 12.


Do you have any age requirements?
Minimum age is 13 years old.


Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
No


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
If they are volunteering with one of our Summer Art Camps we looking for a minimum full week (Mon-Fri) commitment.


Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
All volunteers working with the children's camps or classes must have a CPIC & Vulnerable Sector Check through the local police station. The Art School supplies a letter which states that the Criminal Record check is for a volunteer position with a much lower cost.


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
We hope that all our volunteers have an enthusiasm for art and our Kids Art Camp volunteers enjoy working with children.


What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
Instructors assistant with children's classes and camps, information table at the farmer's market and public events, assistance with fundraising events both prior and during the event and ongoing maintenance and operation in the pottery studio.


Is there any training provided for volunteers?
Any training necessary will be provided.
