The largest public gallery in Durham Region, the RMG occupies an inspired 36,000 square foot building designed by world-renowned architect Arthur Erickson. Featuring a Permanent Collection of over 4000 works of art, four galleries of diverse & changing exhibitions, vibrant programs, Arthur's on the 4th event space, gallery shop, library, and two art & education studios, the RMG is located in downtown Oshawa beside the main library and City Hall.

What services does your organization provide?
The Robert McLaughlin Gallery is dedicated to sharing, exploring and engaging with our communities through the continuing story of modern and contemporary Canadian art.


Do you have any age requirements?
There are no minimum age requirements for being a volunteer. The RMG is open to all applicants and welcomes anyone wishing to be a part of our vibrant community!


Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
No.


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
Applicants are welcome to volunteer on an ongoing basis, or sporadically with our special events throughout the year. In addition, we are open to discussing internship positions based on the applicant's goals and experience.


Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
The RMG requires that applicants complete a police reference check upon their official start-date with our organization.


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
Skills are assessed based on the volunteer's application and areas of interest. The RMG will tailor the experience to meet both the organizational goals and the skills and experience of our volunteers.


What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
The RMG offers positions with: Administration, Art Reach, Curatorial /Collections Management, Educator, Gift Shop , Library/Archives, Studio Educator, Workshop, Visitor Services, Special /Community Events.


Do you provide training for volunteers?
Necessary training is provided by supervisors in accordance with the nature of assigned duties.


What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?
Activities are tailored around the applicant's area of interest, volunteer position, and organizational goals.
