The Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festivalr is a unique showcase of contemporary Asian cinema and work from the Asian diaspora. Works include films and videos by East and Southeast Asian artist in Canada, the U.S., Asia and all over the world.

Founded in 1997 by producer Anita Lee and journalist Andrew Sun, this non-profit community-based festival has grown into an eagerly anticipated annual event that attracts thousands of attendees to 6 exciting days of galas, screenings, forums, workshops and parties.

What services does your organization provide?
As Canada's largest Asian film festival, Reel Asianr provides a public forum for Asian media artists and their work, and fuels the growing appreciation for Asian cinema in Canada.


Do you have any age requirements?
Volunteers should be 16 years of age or older except in certain circumstances.


Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
No


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
All volunteers must commit to a minimum of two shifts and attend all necessary training sessions to ensure they know what their specific position entails.


Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
No


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
No.


What type of volunteer positions are typically available?
Volunteer duties range from assisting the venue staff in front of house, dealing with tickets at the box office, helping us organize our parties, industry series and much more.


Is there any training provided for volunteers?
There will be two to three volunteer trainings before the festival. Volunteers must attend these trainings depending on the venue they are working in. The training will allow the volunteers to familiarize themselves with the venue, understand their roles within the event, and meet fellow volunteers.


How will a person benefit from volunteering with Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival?
As a volunteer at Reel Asian, you will receive vouchers good for the festival screenings and industry series, a free t-shirt, and invitations to the Closing Gala Party, Special Volunteer Screening, and the Volunteer Appreciation Party.
Volunteers can also receive a reference letter (upon request) detailing your volunteer hours and skills developed, useful for school programs and proof of community involvement.


Do you accept high school students?
Yes. However, volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.
