Volunteer Information for Wellness Centers of Canada
What services does your organization provide? Adult wellness program that operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Lots of activities, delicious meals, trips and socialization
Do you have any age requirements? All volunteers must be at least 19 years old
Do you require language proficiency other than in English? Additional languages such as German, Cantonese and Mandarin are an asset, but not required.
What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer? We are looking for consistency, the amount of time a volunteer can spend is very flexible (minimum 2 hrs)
Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer? All volunteers must undergo a background check. A food handling certification is desired.
Are there any specific skills and experience required? We're looking for volunteers who enjoy spending time with older adults, who love having fun, learning about gentle fitness, yoga, tai chi, have patience and respect for others.
What type of volunteer positions are typically available? Program Assistant - assisting with activity set up, meal set up, organizing games, reading and facilitating art.
Do you provide training for volunteers? Yes, training is provided, training is approximately 3 hrs in length. Volunteers are provided with an orientation to the site, emergency procedures, registration procedures as well as a communications refresher.
