Volunteer Information for WinSport Canada

What services does your organization provide?
Canada Olympic Park operates a ski hill, luge, bobsled track, ski jumping, olympic size hockey rinks, all of which future olympic athletes use to train. In addition, WinSport has camps and training available to kids to introduce them to various sports including, skiing, hockey, skating and mountain biking. Vistors to Canada Olympic Park can also go on the Zip Line, go up the ski tower and take in the history of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games.


Do you have any age requirements?
Minimum age requirments vary depending on the volunteer role, but generally the minimum age to volunteer with WinSport is 14.


Do you require language proficiency other than in English?
No.


What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer?
Time commitments are dependant on the volunteer role. Time commitments vary from two weeks in the summer to entire seasons (summer and winter). Event volunteers participate in events as they come up, choosing which events they would like to volunteer with.


Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer?
Enthusiastic and friendly, enjoys being a role model for kids, comfortable working with children 3-12 years of age and a willingness to learn.


Are there any specific skills and experience required?
Strong communication skills, experience with the specific sport they are volunteering with (mountain bike, hockey, skating, skiing, leadership experience is an asset and experience working with children is an asset

Summer Positions available:

  • Assistant Pro - Mountain Bike
  • Counselor in Training
  • Hockey Camp Counselor in Training
  • Skate Program Assistant
  • Hockey Program Assistant
  • Event Team

Do you provide training for volunteers?
Training is provided for volunteers. The type and depth of training is determined by the volunteer role and program they are in. Types of training include, orientation, group and individual training and on the job training.


What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization?
Assisting professional sports instructors, assisting with camp activities, administrative tasks, special event support, patrolling the hill and many more activities!


How will a person benefit from volunteering with WinSport Canada?
A great work environment, opportunity to earn a season's pass at Canada Olympic Park (based on a minimum # of hours), discounts on WinSport programs, reciprocal privileges at other resorts and invitations to WinSport special events.


Do you accept high school students?
Yes. High School students (14 years old and older) are wonderful additions to the WinSport team.
