Institution Profile

Based in Seinäjoki in Finland, the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences was one of the nine initial institutes to be granted the status of permanent polytechnic in 1996. Today, the university has diversified and caters to the needs of almost 5000 students. The university is involved in a number of research projects both at the regional level as well as on an international level.

The Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences currently offers bachelor programs for seven main disciplines, which include fields like Natural Resources and the Environment, Technology, Communication and Transport and Natural Sciences. There are five masters programs which are also available with one being available in English. The postgraduate courses are intended for students who have at least three years work experience and the course can be completed while being employed.

A number of non-degree courses are also provided at the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences such as degree-level adult education programs, specialization courses and graduate programs. The number of degree programs often fluctuates as they are constantly upgraded, depending on the demand of the current industry needs and job market. The university also offers a virtual learning environment for students as well. Exchange students from other countries are welcome at the university and information is provided for them regarding health care, accommodation and learning the Finnish language. The university is also involved in some international projects in the fields of education, research and development.
