Institution Profile

Based in Lapeenranta in Finland, the South Carelia Polytechnic provides around twenty degree programs for the faculties of technology, business administration, health care and social services, tourism and hospitality as well as fine arts and design. The institute currently has about 2700 students with a faculty numbering 260. The institute prides itself in offering an international perspective to its students- this involves giving students the chance to participate in exchange programs, welcomes foreign students and brings in lecturers on international exchange programs as well.

The South Carelia Polytechnic currently offers two bachelor degree programs in English, namely in technology and tourism and hospitality. A master's course in International Business Management is also available. All other courses are conducted in Finnish. The institute also offers students a number of study support services, which includes access to its seven libraries and their resource materials. There are also 1300 computer workstations with internet connection available for student use. A career cell is also available to provide assistance in career planning and providing placement services. Job seeking skills and networking skills are also taught.

A number of student benefit schemes are available at South Carelia Polytechnic as well. On campus, students can avail themselves of subsidized meals and discounted fares when using the railways by showing the appropriate student card. Students can also get discounts on long distance coaches. A city card is also available which entitles all students to a 25% discount.
