Located in Bergen in Norway, the Bergen National Academy of the Arts offers study programs for different aspects of fine arts and design. All courses are designed to help students with personal development and on the job training. Emphasis is also placed on interdisciplinary approaches and gaining a sense of responsibility for one's work. Apart from an admission test and interview, prospective students will also be asked to submit actual pieces of original art for assessment.
The Bergen National Academy of the Arts offers bachelor degree courses in design, specialized art and fine arts. Master degree programs are available for fine art and design. The academy also offers student loans and grants for eligible students. There are no tuition fees for any of the courses. The academy also holds a number of further education programs.
The Bergen National Academy of the Arts feels it is important to initiate and engage on discussions pertaining to art in our times, particularly in practical terms. The academy regularly hosts seminars, workshops and symposiums on different facets of art, such as photography. These seminars include guest speakers from around the world who are both artists and academicians. This gives students the chance to hear about a topic from a variety of perspectives. The academy is also involved in research projects, which specifically deal with future textiles and Chromascope. The academy also has a special Committee for Teaching Environment, which is concerned with student safety issues in classrooms and workshops.
