Senior Watch Incorporated is a firm located in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada that trains students to care for senior folks. It is run by Jean E. Porter Mowatt, a communications specialist and Sharon A. O'Brien, a teaching and nursing specialist. Together, they train students to be efficient caregivers to seniors and their families.
The needs of the elderly can be extremely complex, and the school provides the necessary skills to attend to their varied needs. They also conduct seven workshops every year in Ethics, Elder Abuse, Back Injury Prevention, First Aid, and Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease.
Students can choose to go for the whole course or apply for selected modules only. They will receive a certificate after completion of the course. Some courses are also available free of cost. Senior Watch also trains students to use its laboratory facilities and medical equipment.
Senior Watch offers a full-time job to students who graduate with a CPR/FA certificate. Employees at Senior Watch who want to go in for further training are eligible for a rebate program for 210 hours. Students can also get jobs as health care workers, home support workers or personal care assistant with hospitals, old age homes or families.
