  • Construction Carpentry-Advanced Housing (Ontario College Diploma) - Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology
    Algonquin College's 2-year Construction Carpentry -Advanced Housing Diploma is designed for individuals interested in the practical and theoretical aspects 'of energy efficient, environmentally-responsible, healthy housing' construction and carpentry. The Program's first year will expose students to the rudimentary skills of carpentry while its final year will advance the students' knowledge and skills of environmentally-conscious construction and carpentry.

  • Carpenter Apprenticeship Certificate - Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology
    Algonquin College's 24-week Carpenter Apprenticeship Certificate 'fulfills the in-school requirements of the carpentry apprenticeship program' in Ontario. The Certificate is delivered via 3 eight-week levels of 30 hours each during which students will take a total of 10 classes. Levels one and two of the Program, known as the basic and intermediate, respectively, will emphasize 'residential construction' while the final, advanced, level will concentrate 'on commercial carpentry.'

  • Building Construction Technician - Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology
    Algonquin College's 48-week Building Construction Technician diploma provides students with the rudimentary abilities, knowledge, and skills to pursue a wide array of 'employment in the construction industry in both the hands-on skills sector and the knowledge and management areas.' For example, graduates may pursue careers as assistant project managers, carpenters, concrete form workers, contractors, estimators, exterior/interior finishers, renovators, safety supervisors, site managers, and sub-trades co-ordinators, among others. Graduates of the Program may also qualify for advanced credits towards a construction-related apprenticeship program, such as cabinetmaking or carpentry.

  • Carpenter General - Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology
    Cambrian College's Carpenter-General is a 2-semester, 8 course program that will expose learners to the knowledge and abilities required to succeed in carpentry. The Program includes theory and practical components, with special emphasis on the development of manual skills, as well as a 4-week field placement.

    An apprenticeship is a method of learning a trade through a combination of periods of in-class, technical/theoretical education and periods of paid, on-the-job training.     Canadore College's 45-week Building Construction Technician Program is primarily aimed at those working or aspiring to a career in the construction industry or various aspects thereof, such as carpentry, and related professions. The Program, which is delivered in 3 fifteen-week semesters, aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to work in building construction as well as with the confidence and leadership abilities to manage and/or supervise a team.

  • Women In Skilled Trades Program Pre-Apprenticeship Carpentry - Conestoga College of Applied Arts and Technology
    Conestoga College's 40-week Women in Skilled Trades Program, Pre-Apprenticeship Carpentry certificate program provides students with the first year of the class-based 'requirements for the General Carpenter trade.' The Program will also include a 400-hour work placement course.

    Fanshawe College's 1-year Construction Carpentry Techniques Certificate Program trains students in the 'manual skills required for on-site general carpentry and construction work' as well as those skills 'needed to complete routine tasks' and satisfy the requirements for safety certification. Among the major topics to be covered are blueprint reading, building construction (exteriors, finishes, floors, foundations, trims, and walls), building codes, communications, computer applications, construction materials, tools, and techniques, drafting, layout, surveying, trade-related mathematics, and health and safety.

  • Native Residential Construction Worker Apprenticeship Program - Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology
    Northern College's Native Residential Construction Worker Apprenticeship program trains students 'in all aspects of residential construction.' Primarily, graduates pursue work on 'construction projects in Native residential settings.' Graduates of the Program will earn journeyperson status and thus qualify to have their respective credentials recognized throughout Canada. Although the Program is designed primarily for individuals of First Nations lineage, it is open to any interested individuals.

  • Carpenter - Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology
    Northern College's 40-week Carpenter program, which is primarily geared towards First Nations students, equips prepares learners to become general carpenters and/or carpentry apprentices upon graduation. Graduates of the Program who enter an apprenticeship program will be eligible to receive credit for all required 'in-school training required as an apprentice' as well as 'receive a large number of credit hours towards the on-the-job training component of an apprenticeship.'

  • Sustainable Building Design and Construction - Sir Sandford Fleming College
    Sir Sandford Fleming College 20-week Sustainable Building Design and Construction certificate equips students with 'an integrated skill set in the design of structures using green, natural or sustainable building methods, technologies and materials and renewable energy resources.' Prospective students should note that the Program is delivered in an intensive, compressed format whose ' course workload is equivalent to a three-semester (45 week) program.'

    Sir Sandford Fleming College's 2-semester Construction Skills Certificate introduces students to a broad range of construction industry trades and skills, including in Carpentry, Electrical, Masonry, Plumbing, and Welding.
