Overview

Distress Centres is a vibrant mid-sized organization located in downtown Toronto that has been providing multiple services for over 40 years to those who are socially isolated, experiencing emotional distress or in crisis. We are looking for an experienced Individual and Major Gifts Resource Development Coordinator. This is a 3-month contract position working 2.5 days a week, including the occasional evening or weekend, with the possiblity of developing into a permanent and / or full time position.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities and Functions: Develop and execute annual giving programs, including a direct marketing campaign Identify, solicit and cultivate major gifts prospects Develop and deliver a donor recognition program Build and maintain relationships with donors, staff, board members, volunteers and donor prospects Remain current with trends in the fundraising field and the fundraising activities of similar organizations, including the ability to research donor prospects. To analyze the effectiveness of the existing strategies, provide guidelines for Board support, implement new fundraising endeavours as approved by the Board of Directors To achieve the monetary goal equal to or in excess of the annual budget as approved by the Board of Directors Support and participate in agency-wide marketing initiatives To produce and manage direct mail campaigns, including the preparation of solicitation letters and proposals, tracking charitable donations information, producing annual comparisons and maintaining the direct mail lists database To prepare, coordinate, edit and print various reports To input information concerning donations to the charity and maintain the donations database Develop and maintain agency communications including newsletters, website, press releases, etc. Researching potential donors Prepare statistical reports as requested Other duties as may be assigned from time to time


Experience and Qualifications

A minimum of three years related professional experience in executive fundraising management. Related education an asset. Related experience in a not for profit environment Experience in the development and delivery of an annual campaign in excess of $500,000. Demonstrated success in establishing and achieving fundraising targets Outstanding oral and written skills Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work as a member of a team and independently The ability to work effectively with staff, board members, volunteers, donors and the public A clear understanding of prospect management Self motivated and pro-active Superior organizational and analytic skills Familiar with fundraising software. Experience with Income Manager an asset Public relations and communications background Understanding and passion for the services we provide and the clients we serve.
