Description of East Coast Music Association

The East Coast Music Association (ECMA) is a regional collaboration of people in the music industry of Atlantic Canada. ECMA fosters, develops, promotes and celebrates its music locally and globally.

The East Coast Music Association is a registered non-profit association dedicated to the music of Atlantic Canada. Membership is open to all individuals working in any sector of the music industry or those who support the music industry. Membership includes musicians, artists, agents, managers, record companies, studios, media, related corporation and retailers.

The primary activity of the ECMA is the annual Awards Show and Conference. This event attracts industry professionals, talent buyers, media and record labels from around the globe. There is no better time to hone your networking skills and develop new contacts than at this annual event.

Since its inception in 1989, The East Coast Music Awards and Conference has become a national and international event. The components of this event have evolved to become the most comprehensive and exciting event in Atlantic Canada.

The East Coast Music Awards celebrate and honour outstanding contributions to Atlantic Canadian Music. This event is broadcast nationally and receives a viewing audience of almost 1 million.

So Much More Than an Award Show!

Seminars and Workshops are the educational component of the event. Industry professionals, regionally and globally, share their expertise and experience through workshops, round table discussions and seminars.

Industry Awards Show honours and celebrates the movers and shakers of the East Coast Music Industry.

Stompin' Tom Awards were created in honour of Stompin' Tom Connors who asked that we celebrate the pioneers of the East Coast music scene.

ECMA Showcase Stages offer rising East Coast talent the opportunity to showcase their music to record executives and talent buyers from around the globe.

Discovery Stage (Former 72-Hour Jam) The 72-hour Jam will transition to a new format for ECMA 2008! It is the ECMA’s mandate to present emerging artists, many performing at ECMA for the first time, on a high quality stage in front of a supporting audience and at a reasonable time of day. The new ECMA Discovery Stage will replace the previous years’ Jam event, presenting artists/groups from all genres and regions back-to-back over two days from 10 AM – 10 PM. The change from 72 hours to 24 hours will result in less performance slots, but a much higher quality performance opportunity.

Radio ECMA is ECMA's own radio station that broadcasts within a three mile radius of the event.

Concert Series offers an opportunity to enjoy Atlantic Canada's finest talent in an intimate theatre setting.

Soundwaves program helps the artists/groups connect with the host community through public shows in schools and churches during the month preceeding ECMA weekend.
