Introduction
Having opened its doors in 1892, the Faculty of Law, often referred to as UNB Law, at the University of New Brunswick at Fredericton is one of the oldest university-affiliated common law schools in the Commonwealth of Nations. The Faculty has been consistently ranked as one of the best learning institutions of its kind in Canada by such publications as Canadian Lawyer and Maclean’s, and it has one of the lowest student-teacher ratios in Canada at 11.5 to 1.

The latter has helped spawn a community atmosphere among and between the students and faculty members. This sense of community is reinforced by the unique physical layout of the school. All of the Faculty's classrooms, offices, and lounges and its bookstore and Gerard V. La Forest Law Library are located in one building, Ludlow Hall, which opened in October 1968 in Fredericton and which is named after George Duncan Ludlow, the province's first chief justice.

Moreover, the Faculty strives to keep education financially affordable by maintaining reasonable tuition fees, vis-a-vis other Canadian law schools, as well as 'scholarship and bursary support,'
