Eric Molson to receive honorary doctorate from Concordia UniversityNovember 16, 2006 Source: Concordia University http://mediarelations.concordia.ca/mediaroom/pressreleases/2006/11/008091.shtml MONTREAL/November 16, 2006 — Eric Molson, former Chancellor of Concordia University, will receive an honorary doctorate at one of the university’s upcoming fall convocation ceremonies. There will be two ceremonies taking place on Monday, November 20, 2006 in Salle Wilfrid Pelletier at Place des Arts (175 St. Catherine St. West). At the afternoon ceremony, starting at 3 p.m., the John Molson School of Business will award the honorary doctorate to Molson in recognition of his exceptional career as a leader of Canadian industry, his remarkable social engagement, his generosity towards Concordia University and his numerous commercial successes that have made him a true leader and philanthropist. Concordia has always been able to count upon the support of Eric Molson. An illustrious business leader, he often volunteered his services to the university, and was especially involved in promoting the strategic direction and growth of Concordia. Molson is presently the Chairman of the Board of Molson Coors Brewing Company. He is a Director of the Montreal General Hospital Foundation and Corporation, Vie des Arts and the Canadian Irish Studies Foundation, the biggest Irish studies program in Canada and housed at Concordia University. He also served the Bank of Montreal as a member of its Board of Directors from 1987 to 2000. This fall, 1,648 graduates will join Concordia’s alumni ranks.
