MAGGIE JONES
SWIMMING

Maggie Jones is this week’s Dalhousie Female Athlete of the Week. Jones contributed four podium finishes and helped lead the Tigers to an overwhelming win by 224 points during this weekend’s AUS Invitational held at Dalplex. The second-year veteran claimed a third-place finish in the women’s 50 metre breaststroke and swept the backstroke events claiming first place in the 50, 100, and 200 metre distances. In addition to her contribution in the individual events, the Corner Brook, NL native earned her first CIS qualification in the 100 backstroke and will be joining her teammates at the CIS Championship held at Dalplex in February. Jones is a second year student currently pursing a science degree.

DOUG YOUNG
SWIMMING

Doug Young is this week’s Dalhousie Male Athlete of the Week. Young made his presence known both on deck and in the water posting a max of four first- place individual event finishes during the weekend’s AUS Invitational held at Dalplex. The seasoned veteran posted top times in both the 100 and 200 metre breaststroke along with the 50 and 100 metre freestyle events, leading his team to a dominating 238 point victory over the competition. His contributions in the water paid off, earning a spot on the CIS Championship team for his time in the 200 breaststroke. Young is a fourth-year sociology student from Grand Lake, NS.
