November 2, 2005 Source: Mount Allison University: http://www.mta.ca/news/?id=851 Local School Choirs to present SONGS of PEACE at Mount Allison, Nov. 7 SACKVILLE, NB — A special concert, SONGS of PEACE, will be presented again this year on Monday, November 7 at 7 p.m. in Convocation Hall, Mount Allison University in Sackville. The event will feature over 200 young choristers joining together in song in the name of peace. Special guests will be members of the Royal Canadian Legion from Sackville, Dorchester, Port Elgin, and Amherst. Choirs participating include Marshview Middle School Choir and Dorchester Consolidated School Choir (director Karen Olscamp), Port Elgin Regional School Choir (director Tanya Bostick), Salem Elementary School Choir (director Lisa Steeves), and The Cumberland County Singers (director Nancy Tucker). They will be joined by the Elliott Chorale (director Gayle Martin) from Mount Allison who will perform and then join the children in the final Massed Choir selections. Music education students and Nancy Vogan from the department of music at Mount Allison are assisting with the organization of this event which is being sponsored by Mount Allison University and the Mount Allison music department in recognition of the Year of the Veteran. This concert was warmly received last year and is greatly anticipated by performers and audience alike.
