Join is for the launch of the BU School of Music Standing Ovation Fundraising Campaign

October 25, 2006

Join us on Wednesday, November 1 from 2:40 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. as we launch the Brandon University School of Music "Standing Ovation" Fundraising Campaign in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall, located in the Queen Elizabeth II Music Building on the BU Campus.

Brandon University is known internationally for its School of Music. Graduates hold positions with opera companies and major orchestras from coast to coast, and as private, school and college/university music teachers all over the world. Brandon University is also home to one of the finest Conservatories in Canada, which caters to the needs of the wider Manitoba community.

The "Standing Ovation" Campaign is the School of Music's first major fundraising initiative and celebrates 100 years of excellence in training and performance at Brandon University. Rather than striving toward a monetary goal, this campaign will seek to satisfy the specific needs of the School of Music by focusing on four priority areas: Musical Instruments, Outreach, Scholarships and Bursaries, and Teaching Support. The campaign will be considered a success once the goals under these four areas are met.

The campaign kick-off will feature remarks from Dean of the School of Music Dr. Glen Carruthers, BU President Dr. Louis P. Visentin, and from internationally renowned violinist Dr. James Ehnes (Honourary Campaign Chair) who will also give a special musical performance. l’Ensemble vocal de l’Université de Poitiers, a choral group visiting BU from France as part of a music student exchange program, will also perform.
