Brandon University honours Alberta Star for contributions to Geology Department

October 26, 2006

On Wednesday, October 25, Alberta Star President Tim Coupland and Director Rob Hall visited Brandon University for a first-hand look at how the contributions made by their company have helped to support and expand teaching and research capabilities in the Faculty of Science's Geology Department.

Alberta Star's contributions to the department have taken many forms including supporting student research and summer jobs, sponsoring faculty research in Geology, and the donation of funds for the purchase of petrographic microscopes for teaching and research. During their visit, they had an opportunity to see the microscopes in action and visit with some of the students who have benefited from their ongoing support.

"The list of contributions made by Alberta Star to our Department is large and ever-growing," said BU Geology Chair Dr. Simon Pattison. "Without diminishing the value of Alberta Star's other contributions, the microscopes in particular have made a large difference in the quality of training that our students receive – it shows in the fact that we often get complimented on the quality of our graduates who go out into the workforce as geologists and Earth scientists."

"We've been very happy with the support and students we've received from Brandon University," said Coupland. "My philosophy is that you have to give to receive, so we try give as much as we can. We want to have a good team and be associated with good people – we have that with BU."

Alberta Star Development Corporation's objective is to identify, acquire and develop high potential, exploration projects world wide in a timely, responsible and cost-effective manner. Alberta Star is primarily focused in the discovery of Base and Precious Metals and Uranium.
