Auburn University is situated in the city of Montgomery in Alabama State. It was founded by an act of the Alabama Legislature in 1967. The university is spread over a 500 acre campus and is organized into five schools - business, education, liberal arts, nursing and sciences. Auburn University offers associate, bachelor, master and PhD degrees in a wide range of majors. Classes at Auburn University are held from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays as well as at special hours on weekends. This provides students with greater flexibility in course scheduling. Currently there are around 5,000 students enrolled in credit courses and over 10,000 students in Continuing Education programs. The university is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The paralegal program of Auburn University is approved by the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association. This course trains students to become legal assistants or paralegals. Legal Assistants are employed in law firms, courts, government agencies, public and private agencies, corporations, financial institutions, insurance companies, title companies and real estate offices. They perform a variety of tasks under the supervision of an attorney such as researching factual and legal issues, interviewing clients and witnesses, preparing pleadings, subpoenas, wills, contracts and other legal documents. This paralegal course teaches them how to do all this plus it also gives them skills in computer research, mathematics and English writing.
