Edmonds Community College is a two year institution offering a variety of programs that can lead to an associate's degree or a certificate. It is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and is governed by the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges. It offers more than 17 certificates and degrees as well as more than 200 online courses ensuring that about 10,000 students take up flexible programs. It has a student/faculty ratio of 18/1 and has more than 149 full-time faculty members and 363 part-time members.

It offers an Associate's degree as well as certificate programs in Paralegal Studies approved by the American Bar Association. The programs were developed with the cooperation of the Washington State Bar Association. The programs are offered each quarter and about 20 courses are offered. Students can take up regular day classes, evening classes or opt for an online education.

These programs are designed to train students to become certified Legal Assistants. The Paralegals are permitted to work under the direct supervision of an attorney. They may not practice law or give professional advice to clients or charge a fee.

The programs train them to become adept in running a legal office, drafting documents, dealing with cases, interviewing clients, conducting investigations and to conduct extensive research especially online research. The Associate's degree program is designed for students who seek entry into the legal field and the advanced certificate is designed for those who have a prior degree and seek to get an education in paralegal studies. A medical paralegal certificate is also available to train nurses. Students are also given an option to design their own programs.
