Monroe Community College was established in 1960, and is a part of the State University of New York system. It is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Its curriculum is also registered and approved by the New York State Department of Education.

It offers a Certificate program in Paralegal studies that is open only to those students who possess a Bachelor's or an Associate's degree. The programs commence every fall semester and classes are conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the evenings as well as on Saturday mornings. The program can be completed in about 15 month's time. The faculty members are experienced professionals who are experts in their respective fields. Financial aid is available to the deserving candidates.

Monroe Community College's curriculum for the Paralegal certificate program was prepared in partnership with the Monroe County bar Association and the Paralegal Associates of Rochester.
